For me Summer is all about slowing down, pausing and savouring the season. Now the kids have finished school its all about slow starts and lazy days. As we saw the Summer Solstice return I wrote about Savouring Summer and all it has to offer. I don’t want to spend my days rushing and squeezing every activity into the first week. Instead I wish to pause and savour the Summer and all it has to offer.
My could-do list is list of reminders if you like of the things I may like to do over the Summer (or not) as a could-do list is different, its a gentle reminder of the things you’d like to do but without pressure to tick everything off. I came across the could-do list a couple of years ago when I started reading The Simple Things magazine and the part of the magazine I turn too first. I began writing my own could-do lists, a gentle reminder to myself of all I hope to do for the upcoming week , month or in my case season.
So here is my Summer could-do list.
Get outdoors and take a walk, read a book or just enjoy being outside.
Wild Swimming – open water swimming over the summer. We are lucky as we have a beautiful lake near us that does open water swimming sessions daily. Its something I’ve been wanting to try for a while.
Alfresco eating, bbqs, picnics, theres just some about eating outdoors that makes it taste so much better.
Visit the seaside, walk on the beach bear foot.
Eat seasonally – we are growing some tomatoes, green beans, rocket, cucumber this year and is all part of us trying to eat more seasonally.
Read – I’m trying to use the slower mornings to read. Each day reading a chapter with my first cup of tea.
Capture the seasons. Last month I signed up to A year with my camera an online photography course. Read about it here. So I plan to continue to learn and share how I get on with that. Getting out with my camera and capturing the seasons is one of my favourite things to do.
I’d love to hear what you have planned for the Summer and how you plan to spend your days.
Have you heard of a could-do list before ?
Whats on your could-do list this Summer?
