Summer Solstice -Savouring Summer

Summer Solstice -Savouring Summer

As we enter the Summer solstice the sun is at its highest and most powerful and we see the longest day and shortest night. The midsummer , lithea or Summer solstice is one of four solar festivals celebrated around the world. Astronomically it marks the start of Summer.

As we honour the bright healing power of the sun, get outdoors and soak up its warm yellow glow. Bask in its powerful healing power and just be, it’s time to honour mother nature and all it has to offer, say hello to Summer. Summer is a great time to check in with yourself and think about how you wish to manifest the remaining six months of the year. As the sun also represents the ego think about how your own ego my be holding you back from the goals you may have set at the beginning of the year.

Whether you choose to simple sit on the grass and soak up the sun journal it out or practice a more precise mediation really think about how you wish to show up in the next six months of the year. Visualise the warm yellow light shinning down on you as you cultivate your vision. Anchor into that feeling of where you already want to be.

For me the Summer is the perfect time to slow things down and be more present in my days. I naturally like to simplify my days and realign with what the rest of the year has to offer. Its an opportunity to take this time to really focus and manifest all I wish for.

Getting outdoors as much as possible, picnics, walks, bbqs, and evenings around the fire pit wrapped in blankets sipping wine, walking bear feet on the grass, reading books, lazy mornings and slow days. Take this time over summer to come back home to yourself. Anchor into the whys and what fors of your life and really focus on what you desire.

Do naturally slow down over summer?

Are you using this time to reevaluate your year and really focus on the possibilities of the next six months ?

I don’t feel like I slow down, I feel like I speed up to fit so much more in.

I’m going to make a conscious effort to slow down this year. Last year My Mum was in a hospice and the whole summer from May to August was none stop and life changing.

This year I need to slow down and take care of myself and family x

I am really trying to slow down. Our kids are tired from school and I feel we need a slow, outdoorsy summer. I absolutely relish spending time outside, it is my therapy.

I agree it can feel like the summer slows things down a fair bit. The start of each year always goes so quickly and after September it just seems to be a race to Christmas!

  4. Summer is my busy time – we have a holiday home so there is all the work preparing for and welcoming guests plus I have a large veg patch to maintain. Love summer, though, just as long as it doesn’t get too hot!

Just like the time of the winter solstice is my lowest point of the year, the summer solstice is always where I find I have more energy, more motivation and the most positive outlook on life. I absolutely love it and the lighter evenings make me so happy!
